Chocolate Snickerdoodles

Finally it is starting feel like fall around these parts. When it starts to cool down I love to start baking more and warm the house. I have always loved making snickerdoodles every since I was a little girl. When I came across a chocolate snickerdoodle it was hard to resist making them. They have a very subtle chocolate flavor but still very delicious. A tip about snickerdoodles is not to over bake them, I take them out a bit early so they will stay nice and chewy.
Chocolate Snickerdoodles

1 cup butter
1 1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1/3 cup cocoa
2 2/3 cup flour
2 tsp. cream of tarter
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt

Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time. Add vanilla. Sift cocoa, flour, cream of tarter, baking soda, and salt together. Add to mixture.

Roll into small balls; roll in sugar. Place on cookie sheets. Bake at 400 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. Makes 5 to 6 dozen.

Great tip- it is that delightful chewiness in these cookies that stands out.

Now see, my husband loves snickerdoodles. Me, not so much but if I take your suggestion and add just a bit of cocoa, I bet we'd have a cookie we could agree on. Thank you for sharing.

I've never tried snickerdoodles, but after this, I think I'll just have to. Thanks, these look great.
