Cinnamon Rolls for Barbie

My local grocery store puts a recipe with their sales for the week and last week they had a recipe for mini cinnamon rolls.  Me and the girls have already made these a few times and the last time we made them I thought that Barbie would love them because they are just her size.
 1. Cut the crust off of some bread slices.
2. Roll the slice of bread super flat.
3. Butter bread with softened butter or we used butter spread.

4. Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar

 5. Roll up bread and cut into slices.
6. You could make a frosting with a little powdered sugar and water if you wanted also.  But we didn't mind them plain.
The girls then designed their own photo shoot.  This was Audrey's set up.  Audrey picked the clothes and props.
This was Aria's design.  She said they were at a family reunion.

Barbie has got to keep her trim figure, so I don't think she will mind if we eat them all.

Streusel-Topped Blueberry Muffins

Since blueberries are showing up in the grocery stores on sale right now.  I thought I would share a really yummy recipe with you today.  I love making blueberry muffins but it was always from a box.  That is how my Mom made them, she would buy the Betty Crocker blueberry muffin box mix, where it comes with a little can of blueberries that you open and rinse.  So that is all I ever knew, until now.  Since having these muffins, I don't think I could ever go back to the mix (unless blueberries aren't available);)  You can't beat the crumbly streusel top, the hints of lemon with the blueberry is fantastic and they are just moist and delicious!  Enjoy!

Streusel-Topped Blueberry MuffinsRecipe from Our Best Bites

1 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
2 3/4 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. table salt
1/2 c. sugar
2 tsp. grated orange or lemon peel
1 large egg
3/4 c. buttermilk ( or 3/4 Tbsp vinegar and then add milk up to the 3/4 cup line and let sit for 5 min)
1/3 c. canola oil
1 c. fresh or frozen blueberries
1 Tbsp. flour
1 Tbsp. sugar

Streusel Topping1/4 c. sugar
2 1/2 Tbsp. flour
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 1/2 Tbsp. butter

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Lightly spoon the flour into measuring cups and level with a knife and combine it in a large bowl with the baking powder, salt, sugar, and citrus peel. Make a well in the center of the mixture. In a smaller bowl, whisk together the egg, buttermilk, and oil. Add to the dry ingredients, stirring just until moistened.

In a small bowl, combine the remaining flour and sugar and then toss the blueberries in this mixture until they are well-coated. Gently fold the blueberry mixture into the batter. Spoon the batter into lined muffin tins, filling 2/3 full.

To make the streusel topping, combine the 1/4 c. sugar, 2 1/2 Tbsp. flour, and cinnamon. Cut in the butter with a pastry cutter or two butter knives until the mixture is crumbly. Sprinkle over the batter and bake for 18 minutes or until the tops are golden and a toothpick inserted into the center of one of the muffins comes out clean. Remove from oven and allow to cool in the pan for 5 minutes and then transfer to a cooling rack. Makes 12 muffins.

Jewelry for your Hair

A couple weeks ago I won a major award and it has made my life a little better and prettier.  I won Lilla Rose Flexi Clips and they are awesome!

Why they have changed my life for the better is that I have thick, curly hair and I was wearing this clip (exhibit A) for many, many years.  My old reliable is just disgusting, rusted and sticky from many hair spray applications.  Before Lilla Rose I went looking for something, anything better and came up empty, to small, to expensive, to boring.

Exhibit A

When I did go out shopping all I could find was this "one size fits most device"(exhibit B) , it more looks like a trap than a hair accessory.  It is a not so comfortable clip and you can only fit so much hair in the thing before it would spring open or break.

Exhibit B
Next clip I have worn once in awhile but is also not so comfortable either, is The Claw, Oooooooo(exhibit C).  Picture little green aliens from the Toy Story Movie.  Something I don't want to think of when I am trying to feel pretty doing my hair.

Exhibit C
She looks so comfortable.  I want to hang half my head off a chair, when I am trying to relax.
Doesn't this look more comfortable and pretty at the same time?

So if you have any of these accessories and love them, that is great.  But if you have been searching for something new, unique, comfortable, affordable and beautiful, your search is over.

You have super long hair, it will work.  You have baby fine hair and say nothing stays put, it will stay put! Lilla Rose is the answer!

I have adored the Lilla Rose Flexi-clips so much that now I have become a consultant.  If you are interested in the Lilla Rose products please visit my personal website .  Lilla Rose also has other products like Hair Sticks, Orings, Hairbands, and Bobby Pins, You-Pins, Badge Holders, Necklaces, and Earrings.  If you have any questions or you think Lilla Rose is cool, feel free to leave a comment or send me an e-mail.  I also started a Lilla Rose Facebook page and I will be posting specials and random info on the products so remember to "Like Me".

Thanks!

Wendy the Wreath Fairy

My daughter Aria loves to read the Rainbow Magic Fairy Books.  If you don't have a daughter under the age of 8 you probably have never heard of them.  Anyway the stories go like this....the goblins steal something from the fairies and these human girls and the fairy get it back, the end.  Well each of the books have a title like Ruby the Red Fairy or Cherry the Cake fairy, etc.

When my friend Wendy moved in across the street and on one of our first meetings she was making a wreath.  Later I found out that Wendy had a fetish for wreaths.  Since that day 5 months ago me and Wendy have made 3 wreaths together.  I even have caught the wreath fever, and I made a wreath last week with the help of Pinterest.  I am sure we aren't done yet.  Thanks Wendy the Wreath Fairy!

This isn't the first wreath we made, but since 4th of July is coming up I thought to share this one first.

We used a small straw wreath and just wrapped yarn around and around.  Bought some glitter, foam stars and hot glued them on, that easy.

Note:  I really need to clean my door and or paint it.

We have been making other stuff also.  Got the flag idea from Brown Paper Packages.
I got the cute, free, subway art from Eighteen 25.

Small Kitchen Remodel

When we purchased our home 6 years ago, I knew the kitchen was small. But the market was hot and every house we looked at slipped through our fingers or was way out of our price range. I like our house, it is not near my dream home but it is a roof over our head. I always wanted to redo the kitchen. What I really wanted to do was knock the whole side of the house out and expand, but Brian wasn't to fond of that idea. Anyway finally we had a little money to put towards the kitchen. We decided just a little upgrade on some things would spiff it up a bit. We picked out some solid, acrylic, counter tops. We then re-polyed the cabinets. After that Brian tiled us a back splash and did an awesome job, my husband is so handy! Then we got some extra cabinets installed. We are really happy how our little remodel turned out, P.S. love the under mounted sink!

Next I am trying to decide if we need some hardware and maybe some curtains?  What do you think?

A Major Award!

Look what I got in the mail today!  So I follow a few blogs and they do giveaways on some of them.  Sometimes I enter the the giveaway and I never win.  I saw this giveaway a couple weeks ago on Six Sisters Stuff Blog, love their blog.  Anyway saw these clips they were giving away and I thought they looked cool.  I have really thick, curly hair and I was having a hard time finding cute clips.  I headed over to the Lilla Rose website to check them out and I knew I had to get some.  I figured I would enter into the giveaway and if I won that would be cool, or I was going to order me some anyway.  I check the Six Sister blog almost every day and to my surprise, I saw my name listed as the winner of three Lilla Rose flexi clips!  I was so excited and called my husband, he did not get what the big deal was.  So I then called my friend Wendy and she understood what to be all excited about.  I love my winnings and they fit perfectly and are so beautiful.  Thanks Marci over and Lilla Rose, Inc. and Thanks Six Sisters!
Look at the cute little details.
