When I make this recipe memories come rushing back of my childhood. I have had this recipe for at least 20 years of my life. My childhood friend and neighbor shared this recipe with me one night and we made them together. After we made them we shared them with a few of our neighbors and I have enjoyed ever since making these cookies and sharing them. This recipe makes a lot so that is why it is the perfect cookie to share.
Banana Chocolate Chip Cookies
1 1/3 cup shortening
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
5 cups flour
4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp. soda
2 cups mashed bananas
2 cups chocolate chips
Cream shortening and sugar, add eggs and vanilla. Sift flour, baking soda, salt and soda together add to creamed mixture and then add bananas. Stir in chocolate chips. I use a small scoop or drop by mounded spoonfuls on cookie sheet.
Bake at 400 degrees for 12 min. Bake until slightly brown.
